Using their preferred controls (keyboard, mouse, gamepad or even MIDI controller) the player begins to tweak. Perhaps they like the sound generated when they adjust the level to look like this. Then they chase their personal aesthetic to a place that looks like this. Eventually they find the perfect marriage of aural and visual stimuli, and their world is this.
